Ancillary editing posts 13/12/13

Inside Sleeve.

This is the first CD Cover which was edited in our group. We used a photograph which we took when we was filming at our Boxhill location. We wanted to use a photograph including nature and the sort of forest looking setting as it shows the location of the artist before he entered the 'Lonely Town'. It also gives the audience a calm feel like they would get in the music video. We edited this in

This is another picture for the inside of our CD cover. We took a picture of Sterling standing there and then when editing it, made the shape of of Sterling as the grass that is in the same photograph

Filming Log Posts 17/12/13

Above is a picture of me setting up the lights for the filming we were about to do. The filming we did today consisted of us being in a room which included the most black. This meant we could use the Drama rooms for this. When we went in this room we turned all the lights off to make sure the lasers and lights we had showed up when filming the most. We had these shots on our story board which meant we needed to have these included with our music video.
After we filmed these shots we found them very successful. This is because of the quality of the shots looking like they are not being filmed in a school. Which is what we have been trying to avoid the whole time we have been filming.

First Draft

This is the first draft for our music video. For this draft, we got given a lot of things our peers and teachers thought we should improve. This will help us to improve our overall music video.

Some of the main things which people said we should improve were:
- The lip sync at certain points.
- Making the green screen shots more slow motion and make the green screens more realistic.
- Including a different variety of setting shots.

For our second draft we will improve these things, making our second draft more successful. We are also planning on filming some more shots including the shots of Sterling standing in front of UV lights making us only see his silhouette.

First Draft Video Evaluation - 6/12/13

Class Feedback

Overall our first draft of our music video had a positive reception. We have gained lots of valuable feedback that we can use to improve our video.

Strengths
- Good performance
- A variety of shot types
- Good editing effects

Weaknesses
- Green screen shots (Slowed down, add background)
- More cutting to the beat
- Lip sync isn't in time

Average Grade: A/B
Average Level: 3
Average Mark: 31

These are the overall feedback marks that we have, we worked out the average on grade, level and mark. This shows that our average grade for our music video is a high B/low A. Which in my opinion is good for our first draft. From this, we made a 'To Do' list which we got from all the EBIs we got handed and we want to follow this list and make sure everything is improved which will bump up our grades. We got some 'trends' in the feedback we got from the rest of the class. One of the main ones, was at one point in the music video, it wasn't actually lip synced properly and it was obviously quite obvious because it came up quite a lot in people's feedback. There was also the green screen. A couple of people have said that it should be slowed down to make it look not as fast and unrealistic like he is actually falling. But we have been discussing it as a group and we think that we should not have the green screen shown as much as it actually is. We think it doesn't suit the theme and the mood of the rest of the video.

Editing Log Posts - 22/11

We decided that we had enough footage for our music video to be able to edit it all. We started by making sure all the shots were in lip sync, so the first action we took was lip syncing all the performance shots, this meant we didn't have to do it every time we wanted to include a performance shot. This would just clearly waste time. For editing our music video we used the software Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. This is a software which me and my group familiarised with quite quickly as it is a quick and easy software to use. This made things less complicated for when we wanted to come and edit, it wasn't too much hassle. I think the most complicated parts of editing the music video was the lip syncing part. After that everything just needed to be placed and then we could start playing around with it and doing what we wanted, such as adding different techniques to try and improve our music video more and more in time for our first draft.

After we hand in our first draft we will have helpful feedback which we will use to improve everything. We will have our peer feedback but also the feedback from our teachers. This will guide us to achieving the highest grade possible.
